Our Time in Maine

We've been really lucky that we've been able to travel to Maine a fair amount this year, and spend lots of time with our families, but matter how much time we spend there, going home is always hard. This time, though, I managed not to cry. Baby steps, people.

See? Happy face.

We try to fly in and out of Boston (four hours from our families) because we can get direct flights to Houston and our travel day has less potential for hiccups, which meant we drove to Boston today and are spending the night in the city where we started our family before flying home to Houston tomorrow. It's so neat to bring Olivia here and I hope she'll love the city as much as we do when she's older. My brother in law stayed with her at the hotel during her nap today so Ryan and I could go for a long (chilly) walk and reminisce about our pre-Texas life which already feels like a lifetime ago. Funny how two toddler years will blur those memories like a margarita (or four).

Anyway, I have a few photos from Maine on my camera roll that I thought I'd toss on here for your Friday night viewing pleasure. Since I'm assuming you're all spending your Friday night like me....in bed, lights out at 7 pm with a kiddo sleeping in a crib two feet away. Blogging, interneting, and generally trying to be silent, because if you aren't, said toddler will wake and tomorrow's flight will be like an episode of Teen Mom. Lots 'o swearing and yelling.

So here they are.

Post Christmas Tree cutting selfie. If I had any more chins I'd look like a Star Wars character.

Love morning coffee runs with my mom - even if we have to stop at multiple coffee shops to make everyone happy.

So tomorrow we'll be back in Houston and I'm a little bit relieved to be going back to our own space, getting back into the studio, and getting Olivia back on a schedule (minus all the free babysitters, yikes). My new car (the old one was in fact totaled from the accident) is getting delivered later tomorrow afternoon, so I'm not mad about that timing at all.

I've got more pics of our time in Maine on my Instagram account (@willowcrowns in case you want to check it out) as well as my other daily 'grams.

I hope you all have a super fun weekend lined up, whether you're vegging out or cross fitting it up.

  5. super cute. Looks like a great trip.

I know you said a while back you use the VSCO app but for the look of your pics do you just desaturate them a bit? I love the way they turn out.

  6. It looks like this was such a fun trip! I'm so glad you got to have such a good time! But I feel you on being ready for things to get back to normal! We had a visit with my family, and the moment they left we looked at each other and said we wanted to move back. Lol

  8. That first pic of Olivia is precious! I love her vest and sunglasses! Such a little fashionista! Do you have the Texas version of the Santa book? We were in Texas for Christmas and Santa and Mrs. Claus came for a visit a few days before Christmas. Santa brought the Texas version of the book for the kids and read it to them. It was so sweet! I'm glad that y'all had a nice Christmas, and I hope that your flight back to Houston was uneventful! Here's to a fantastic 2015!
